Something Sunday --- Slow Times

Well it is that time of year I guess.  All the money has been spent for Christmas and not just much happening.  I tend to work on a lot of projects when that happens.  As they say practice practice practice you see you have to be able to handle any situation as a photog!  Here are some I have taken while practicing...



Okay anyone that knows me half way good knows I like lemonade.  My co-workers call me a connoisseur as it seems like I know where to go to get the best.  After work one day I had this sitting on my desk and thought hmmmm what would happen.  Fluorescent lighting is not the easiest to work in by the way!




And my second love has got to be eating!!!  So at restaurants I tend to look for things to capture.  This in reality is a low light shot as it was to the back of the restaurant.  I love me some good Polynesian food! 




Yes this is in a restaurant as well.  This one was tricky you have natural light coming in from the big windows and then fluorescent from overhead.  I could not get it to look the way I wanted so guess what vintage black and white.  I think it fits the scene as well.




Oh okay here is a rose about 4 months ago I captured.  I was actually working several things in this photo.  1st was golden hour of which I have posted before 2nd would be bokeh.  Yes technical term but basically means the blurred out background.  This is an unedited picture straight from the camera with watermark added is all.




What is me practicing with no sunset shot.  I was actually working composition in this image trying to frame the clouds by the trees to capture the best image.  Technically speaking it is not good, but I like the way it looks!

 So there you have it.  My practice shots!!!

Something Sunday --- Byrd Street Band Austin Texas

Okay being from the great state of Texas and particularly from the San Antonio Austin area you get to see some pretty cool and amazing stuff.  As I was traveling I landed in the airport for Austin Texas.  For those that may not know Austin is known as The Live Music Capitol of The World.  The sign at the airport said so!  Well anyway in the airport they had live music being played.  These are some of my first attempts at photography of people and I ran across them and thought wow I have done nothing with these.  Since I have not been able to get a hold of them I will share with yall instead!

Ah brings back memories of 6th street seeing these pictures sure do.  Live Music Capitol of the world ROCK ON!!!!

Something Sunday --- Black Light

Okay I am a camera geek yes I admit it.  I am actually a member of the Cache Valley SMUG club.  We get together enjoy each others company, learn photography and just flat have fun.  During one of our club meetings there were black lights in the Studio.  I thought I would try my hand.  What do you think???



Okay this one has nothing to do with black lights hope you figured it out but this is my friend T's daughter's carving.  Yes it is carved incredible stuff I took a picture of the frame hanging up and thought it turned out awesome.



The L Family

Even though it was the Christmas season I still had the wonderful opportunity of taking some pictures.  This was one of the fun ones.  You see these folks are my friends as well so we made some pictures ate some food and enjoyed a great night together.  These are some of my favorites!

This is why I enjoy being a photographer.  We had a lot of fun with all that was going on during this time.  It was a moment to reflect relax and enjoy having some good old photography fun!!

Something Sunday --- Rogers Family Benefit concert

Yes I know it is the start of a new year and yes I am not confused and know it is Monday, but I have had a catastrophe in my life.  I am still trying to figure out how I survived with NO Internet!!!  But we are back up and running strong now.  So enjoy this post.

This year was a unique Christmas for me.  Those that know what I did will know why it was unique.  Those that do not will have no idea what I am talking about.  You see I am not a huge big fan of Christmas.  I love the meaning behind it do not get me wrong.  But I think in today's society it is all about getting the presents!  Well I was proved wrong as is usually the case.  This is a benefit concert that was held for the Rogers family.  For those that want to know more see Lantern Lanes page on Face book.  I, yes little old me, had the honor of taking photos for it.  Great cause fun times and enjoyed by all.




This was a silent auction that was going on.
