Something Sunday --- Grass Roots Democracy

No this is not a political blog today just some observations.  Recently here in the state of Utah we had the opportunity to attend our Caucus meetings.  Now I had no idea what a caucus meeting was as I am not from here and where I come from we do not have this sort of system.  Basically you meet with your precinct and elect representatives.  These representatives then represent you in the County and even state meetings.  These folks are your neighbors and can be accessed at anytime (it is what was said I may need to test it one day).  Then at the county and state meetings they select the candidates that will be on the ballot.  It is very interesting once you understand these meetings will determine WHO will be on the ballet to vote for.  I thought it would be an awesome opportunity to capture the meeting these are some of my favorites!

This was the Caucus meeting that was held.  This is our Chairman letting us know what is going on.

The delegates had an opportunity to get up and speak to us.  This is one of them informing us why he should represent us.

Ah yes and the counting is done and verified as to who is the winner!
It was a very informative meeting and interesting to see Utah politics at work as always.
